Ordinary ashwagandha powder is typically made by drying and grinding the plant's root, retaining its naturally occurring compounds in their original proportions. Ashwagandha extract, however, undergoes additional processing to concentrate selected plant constituents. This OstroVit product is standardised to contain 7.2% withanolides, meaning each serving provides a specified amount of these naturally occurring compounds.

Does a more concentrated extract mean better results? Not necessarily. While standardisation helps identify the composition of a supplement, a higher withanolide percentage doesn't automatically mean greater effectiveness. The plant material, extraction process, serving size and individual circumstances all matter, and research into ashwagandha's potential benefits and long-term safety is still developing.
