Ingredients

• Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus) mushroom extract from fruiting bodies.

Two tubs can both say “Lion's Mane” on the front while containing quite different things. So rather than judging a mushroom supplement by the biggest number on its label, here are some genuinely useful questions to ask.

1. Which part of the mushroom is used?

KIKI specifies that this product is made from Lion's Mane fruiting bodies. The fruiting body is the recognisable mushroom structure itself, while mycelium is the network of fungal threads from which mushrooms grow. Neither term should simply be treated as a marketing buzzword – what's useful is knowing what you're actually buying.

2. Is it mushroom powder or an extract?

This isn't simply ground-up Lion's Mane. KIKI uses an enzymatic, temperature-controlled extraction process to produce its concentrated mushroom extract. When you're comparing products, check whether the label says whole mushroom powder, extract or something else rather than assuming they're interchangeable.

3. Does it tell you anything about beta-glucans?

KIKI standardises its extract to 30% beta-glucan-rich polysaccharides, giving you more information about the composition of the mushroom extract than a label which only provides its total weight.

4. Is there anything else in the powder?

This is where KIKI's formula becomes particularly easy to understand. Lion's Mane extract. That's it. There are no grains, starches, mycelium, fillers or other additives listed.
